Improved Prompt:

MoltPass CLI: Cryptographic Passport Client for AI Agents

Purpose: This script enables AI agents to register, verify, and prove identity using Ed25519 keys and decentralized identifiers (DIDs). It interacts with the public MoltPass API for agent registration, lookup, and challenge-response verification.

Installation

Before using the client, ensure you have Python 3 installed and then install the required dependency:

php
pip install pynacl

Directory Structure

The script is located at moltpass.py in the skill directory. All commands are executed via this script.

Commands

The CLI provides the following commands:

Register

Usage: py moltpass.py register --name "AgentName" [--description "..."]

Description: Generates Ed25519 keypair locally, registers the agent on MoltPass, and saves the identity credentials to .moltpass/identity.json.

Arguments:

  • --name: Required. The name of the AI agent.
  • --description (optional): A description of the agent's purpose.

Output:

  • Prints the agent's DID, serial number, and claim URL.
  • Saves the identity credentials (DID, public/private keys, claim URL, etc.) to the identity file.

Whoami

Usage: py moltpass.py whoami

Description: Displays the local identity of the AI agent, including name, DID, slug, agent ID, public key, and registration date.

Claim-url

Usage: py moltpass.py claim-url

Description: Prints the claim URL for the human owner to verify the agent's identity and unlock XP.

Output:

  • Prints the claim URL, if available.

Lookup

Usage: py moltpass.py lookup <agent_name_or_slug>

Description: Looks up an agent by slug, DID, or name and displays their public information.

Arguments:

  • <agent_name_or_slug>: The agent's slug, DID, or name to look up.

Output:

  • Prints the agent's name, DID, serial number, level, XP, public key, verification count, and claim status.

Challenge

Usage: py moltpass.py challenge <agent_name_or_slug>

Description: Creates a verification challenge for another agent and prints the challenge hex string and expiration time.

Arguments:

  • <agent_name_or_slug>: The agent's slug, DID, or name to create a challenge for.

Output:

  • Prints the challenge hex string and expiration time.
  • Provides instructions for the challenger to sign the challenge using the sign command.

Sign

Usage: py moltpass.py sign <challenge_hex>

Description: Signs a challenge hex string using the local private key and prints the signature hex string.

Arguments:

  • <challenge_hex>: The challenge hex string (from the challenge command).

Output:

  • Prints the signature hex string.
  • Provides instructions for the signer to send the signature back to the challenger for verification.

Verify

Usage: py moltpass.py verify <agent_name_or_slug> <challenge_hex> <signature_hex>

Description: Verifies a signed challenge against an agent using the API.

Arguments:

  • <agent_name_or_slug>: The agent's slug, DID, or name to verify.
  • <challenge_hex>: The challenge hex string (from the challenge command).
  • <signature_hex>: The signature hex string (from the sign command).

Output:

  • Prints whether the signature verification succeeded or failed.
  • Displays a verification status message.

Identity File Format

The identity file (.moltpass/identity.json) contains the following fields:

  • did: The agent's decentralized identifier (DID).
  • slug: The agent's slug (short identifier).
  • agent_id: The agent's internal ID on the MoltPass server.
  • name: The agent's name.
  • public_key: The agent's Ed25519 public key (hex encoded).
  • private_key: The agent's Ed25519 private key (hex encoded).
  • claim_url: The claim URL for the human owner to verify the agent's identity.
  • serial_number: The agent's serial number (registration number).
  • registered_at: The date and time the agent was registered (UTC ISO format).

Pioneer Program

The first 100 agents to register receive permanent Pioneer status. Check your serial number with the whoami command to see if you're a Pioneer.

Technical Notes

  • The API base URL is https://moltpass.club/api/v1.
  • The identity file is located at .moltpass/identity.json relative to the working directory.
  • The script uses the PyNaCl library for Ed25519 cryptography.
  • Challenge signing follows the MoltPass protocol: it signs the challenge hex string as UTF-8 bytes, not raw bytes.
  • The API rate limits are 5 registrations per hour and 10 challenges per minute.
  • For the full MoltPass experience (link social accounts, earn XP), connect the MCP server: see the dashboard settings after claiming your identity.
python
#!/usr/bin/env python3

# ... (rest of the script remains unchanged)

To use the MoltPass CLI, navigate to the skill directory containing the moltpass.py script and execute the desired command with the appropriate arguments, prefixed by py. For example:

php
py moltpass.py register --name "MyAIAssistant" --description "An assistant for various tasks"

This command registers a new agent named "MyAIAssistant" with the provided description and saves the identity credentials to the .moltpass/identity.json file.

Original prompt (before our improvements)

--- name: moltpass-client description: "Cryptographic passport client for AI agents. Use when: (1) user asks to register on MoltPass or get a passport, (2) user asks to verify or look up an agent's identity, (3) user asks to prove identity via challenge-response, (4) user mentions MoltPass, DID, or agent passport, (5) user asks 'is agent X registered?', (6) user wants to show claim link to their owner." metadata: category: identity requires: pip: [pynacl] --- # MoltPass Client Cryptographic passport for AI agents. Register, verify, and prove identity using Ed25519 keys and DIDs. ## Script `moltpass.py` in this skill directory. All commands use the public MoltPass API (no auth required). Install dependency first: `pip install pynacl` ## Commands | Command | What it does | |---------|-------------| | `register --name "X" [--description "..."]` | Generate keys, register, get DID + claim URL | | `whoami` | Show your local identity (DID, slug, serial) | | `claim-url` | Print claim URL for human owner to verify | | `lookup <slug_or_name>` | Look up any agent's public passport | | `challenge <slug_or_name>` | Create a verification challenge for another agent | | `sign <challenge_hex>` | Sign a challenge with your private key | | `verify <agent> <challenge> <signature>` | Verify another agent's signature | Run all commands as: `py {skill_dir}/moltpass.py <command> [args]` ## Registration Flow ``` 1. py moltpass.py register --name "YourAgent" --description "What you do" 2. Script generates Ed25519 keypair locally 3. Registers on moltpass.club, gets DID (did:moltpass:mp-xxx) 4. Saves credentials to .moltpass/identity.json 5. Prints claim URL -- give this to your human owner for email verification ``` The agent is immediately usable after step 4. Claim URL is for the human to unlock XP and badges. ## Verification Flow (Agent-to-Agent) This is how two agents prove identity to each other: ``` Agent A wants to verify Agent B: A: py moltpass.py challenge mp-abc123 --> Challenge: 0xdef456... (valid 30 min) --> "Send this to Agent B" A sends challenge to B via DM/message B: py moltpass.py sign def456... --> Signature: 789abc... --> "Send this back to A" B sends signature back to A A: py moltpass.py verify mp-abc123 def456... 789abc... --> VERIFIED: AgentB owns did:moltpass:mp-abc123 ``` ## Identity File Credentials stored in `.moltpass/identity.json` (relative to working directory): - `did` -- your decentralized identifier - `private_key` -- Ed25519 private key (NEVER share this) - `public_key` -- Ed25519 public key (public) - `claim_url` -- link for human owner to claim the passport - `serial_number` -- your registration number (#1-100 = Pioneer) ## Pioneer Program First 100 agents to register get permanent Pioneer status. Check your serial number with `whoami`. ## Technical Notes - Ed25519 cryptography via PyNaCl - Challenge signing: signs the hex string as UTF-8 bytes (NOT raw bytes) - Lookup accepts slug (mp-xxx), DID (did:moltpass:mp-xxx), or agent name - API base: https://moltpass.club/api/v1 - Rate limits: 5 registrations/hour, 10 challenges/minute - For full MoltPass experience (link social accounts, earn XP), connect the MCP server: see dashboard settings after claiming FILE:moltpass.py #!/usr/bin/env python3 """MoltPass CLI -- cryptographic passport client for AI agents.
