Job Description
We are looking for a person with an inquisitive & passionate attitude to all things tech and IT. At On Logistics we provide specialised logistics services to clients working in an incredible range of industries – aerospace, consumer electronics, health & beauty, automotive, industrial, fashion – you name it! We are a growing company who is putting IT at the heart of everything it does, and because of this we building our own IT team and need someone to get in on the ground floor.What you'll be doing.You'll be working directly with the Group IT & Technology manager and will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the IT work.➢ Supporting our systems day to day – We rely on our tech as a business, and we need to keep it functioning at its best. Supporting our staff & clients by dealing with support requests Setting up workstations, equipment, and users Monitoring equipment for defects & raising issues with the appropriate contacts Basic networking tasks – connecting switches & devices, working with our network provider on configuration and changes Monitoring systems & processes and recording/investigating issues Maintaining documentation➢ Client projects – Through the year we deal with numerous special projects to support our clients. You'll help the Group IT Manager in delivering these projects and get the chance to learn and experience working with a wide range of different clients. Researching software & hardware solutions to meet requirements Prototyping and testing new software & processes for client projects Documenting new processes Assisting with other IT based needs such as websites and newsletters where appropriate Training users and supporting go-live of new projects➢ Internal system development – To create amazing services for our clients we combine software and hardware we source from outside suppliers with our software developed in-house. You'll have the opportunity to get involved and learn, no matter what your current skills may be. Requirements gathering Prototyping Coding Testing Documentation & TrainingWhat we'll need from you.➢ Genuine interest and enthusiasm for working with tech➢ A problem solving mindset – you enjoy thinking about problems and working things out➢ Good communication skills – you can explain your ideas to people easily, and write them down clearly for others➢ Evidence that you have some experience with or are actively involved with IT & Technology for example: You have a home lab, or self host a server for your friends You maintain a website or hobby app You are a CS student looking for an industrial placement You've set up a home network or smart-home systemNot required but would be a bonus.➢ Experience with any of the tech we employ Office365, Windows & Linux Servers, Active Directory Zebra mobile devices Software development stack - Laravel, SQL, Redis, Tailwind, .net, Kotlin, git PC Hardware Network hardware (Unifi)➢ You've have some certifications or are studying computer science➢ You have your own transport – You'll be based at our head-office, which is 10-minutes walk Birmingham Airport/Internation Station. We also have other locations around the local area – if you don't have a car or license it's not a problem, we'll transport you there when needed.How to applyYou may not have traditional CV experience because you're just starting out, so tell us about something you've built, or fixed, or setup.
