Job Description
<p><b>Junior Full-Stack Laravel Developer</b> to help deliver a <b>document engine</b> for a fund management company. You’ll be building both the <b>backend services</b> and the <b>front-end admin/UI</b> that turns fund data into clean, repeatable, compliant factsheets (web + export-ready). You’ll be supported by an <b>external senior developer</b> for technical direction, code review, and mentoring.</p><p><b>What you’ll build</b></p><p>A Laravel-based system that typically includes:</p><ul><li>Secure admin dashboard to manage funds, share classes, benchmarks, commentary, documents, branding, and disclosures</li><li>Data ingestion (CSV uploads), with validation and audit trails</li><li>Calculation layer for performance/risk metrics (per agreed business rules)</li><li>Factsheet templates (section layouts, footers, legal text, brand controls)</li><li>Output generation (commonly PDF)</li><li>Tooling for QA: logs, previews, status flags, and error reporting</li></ul><p><b>Key responsibilitiesBackend (Laravel/PHP)</b></p><ul><li>Build services (controllers, service classes, queues, scheduled jobs)</li><li>Design and implement database schemas (migrations, relationships, version history)</li><li>Implement validation and error-handling for incoming fund data</li><li>Contribute to automated testing where practical (feature tests around key flows)</li></ul><p><b>Front-end (UI/Admin)</b></p><ul><li>Build and polish admin UI workflows (forms, tables, filters, preview screens)</li><li>Implement templated factsheet layouts with a clean, branded look</li><li>Handle front-end state and validation</li><li>Ensure responsive design and a good operator experience (fast, clear, minimal clicks)</li></ul><p><b>Collaboration</b></p><ul><li>Work closely with the senior developer via PRs, reviews, and occasional pairing</li><li>Write short developer notes so the system can be supported after handover</li></ul><p><b>Essential skills (must-have)</b></p><ul><li>6–24 months hands-on experience (or equivalent project work) with <b>Laravel</b></li><li>PHP fundamentals, MVC patterns, and SQL database confidence (MySQL/Postgres)</li><li>Front-end experience building admin interfaces (Blade + Tailwind preferred; Livewire/Alpine a bonus)</li><li>Git workflow (branches, PRs, reviews) and ability to work to milestones</li><li>Strong communication and ability to surface blockers early</li></ul><p><b>Nice-to-have skills (helpful, not required)</b></p><ul><li>Familiarity with investment/fund basics (NAV, share classes, benchmarks, performance periods)</li></ul><p>Job Types: Full-time, Temporary<br/>Contract length: 2 months</p><p>Pay: From £24,000.00 per year</p><p>Benefits:</p><ul><li>Company pension</li><li>Flexitime</li></ul><p>Work Location: In person</p>
